Efficiency is one of the most important issues that everybody is facing nowadays. This is because everyone wants to earn more while doing less work. Obviously, a work with less efficiency is useless for everyone. However, this problem has not crept into the world of transcription. Do you want to know how this issue has not entered into the most tedious work of transcribing speech to text? Then, keep reading!
What are transcription services?
Transcription service is a type of service provided by certain companies by which they offer to transcribe audio to text. Transcription services have reduced a considerable part of work of media and technology companies.
How your file does get transcribed?
After knowing this, you may want to know how they transcribe the audio files to text very efficiently. The answer is very simple. You might know that it is now possible to cut a single audio file into many pieces. These companies do the same thing. Well, to be detailed, you can see the whole process that goes on behind the scene and in front of you are as follows:
You give your audio file to be transcribed to the company. At the same time, you pay the amount that the company will ask you for the whole transcription of the audio file.
The company divides the audio file that you give into a number of fragments and give each fragment to the transcribers. The transcribers get a limited amount of time to complete the transcription of the audio chunk given to them.
The transcribers transcribe the voice to text in each fragment before the deadline given to them.
The transcriber, then, submit the transcript of their audio chunk the company.
The transcripts given, by the transcribers, are then checked by some people (called the ‘graders’) and they also grade their transcript. The grader gets paid for grading the work.
The transcriber gets paid for their work, according to the grade given to their transcripts by the grader.
All the transcription chunks are given to the next person (called the editor) for the merging of the transcription chunks. Just like in the transcriber’s case, the editor is also given a deadline for the submission of his work.
The editor carefully merges all of the transcription chunks and a single file of the transcription is formed. The editor also corrects any spelling mistakes or any other errors in the transcript, if any.
The merged transcription is then given to another grader who grades the merged file. The grader, then, gets paid for grading the transcript.
The editor also gets paid for his/her work, according to the grade given on his/her transcript by the grader.
If the grade given to the merged file is quite high, the file is sent for time-stamping. If the grade given to the merged file is low, the file goes for re-editing to another editor and the process continues.
After time-stamping, the file is given to you.
A quite lengthy process, isn’t it? But, it is kept lengthy so that your audio file gets transcribed efficiently. So much is necessary for a media company in their every Interview transcript . Not only in interview transcription, efficiency is important in every work. Next time you send your audio file for transcription, remember how many people work on your file so that you get the best work.
